A Thrilling Addition to Vizag

A Thrilling Addition to Vizag

Visakhapatnam is getting ready to add another star attraction to its skyline. Perched high on Kailasagiri Hill, the city will soon unveil India’s longest cantilever glass bridge — a one-of-its-kind structure that promises both thrill and breathtaking views.

Breaking Records

At 55 metres, the bridge is longer than Kerala’s Vagamon glass bridge and is being built at a cost of about ₹7 crore. What makes it special is the design — three layers of toughened German glass, held together with 40 tonnes of steel. The bridge can technically hold over 100 people, but to keep things safe and comfortable, only 40 visitors will be allowed at a time.

Safe Yet Adventurous

Though it offers an adrenaline rush, safety hasn’t been compromised. Engineers have designed it to withstand winds as strong as 250 kmph and even cyclonic conditions. Standing nearly 862 feet above sea level, it gives visitors an uninterrupted view of the Bay of Bengal on one side and the green Eastern Ghats on the other.

Opening This Month

The glass bridge is set to open to the public on September 25, 2025. The project is being developed by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) in partnership with RJ Adventures, a joint venture between Bharat Mata Ventures of Kerala and Visakhapatnam’s SSM Shipping and Logistics.

More Than Just a Bridge

To add to Kailasagiri’s appeal, VMRDA is also working on a 55-foot Trishul and Damaru structure that will give the hilltop a spiritual charm. Alongside, plans are in motion for a new ropeway and a luge-style gravity ride, making the hill not just a viewpoint but a full-fledged adventure zone.

A Tourism Boost for the City

Officials believe the bridge will draw tourists from across India and abroad, putting Vizag firmly on the map for adventure seekers and casual travelers alike. With its mix of thrill and beauty, the cantilever glass bridge is all set to become one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
