The government of Himachal Pradesh plans to build what could become Asia’s longest zipline in the Dhauladhar Valley, a project that could soon add a major new adventure attraction to the region.

The zipline is proposed near Naddi in Kangra district, a quiet mountain area known for its wide views of the Dhauladhar range and its proximity to Dharamshala. If completed as planned, the zipline will stretch for about 4.3 kilometres, making it the longest of its kind in Asia.

The project is estimated to cost around ₹7.4 crore and is expected to take about three years to complete. Officials say the route will run across various points in the valley, allowing riders to glide high above forested slopes, small villages, and deep mountain ravines. For visitors, the ride would offer sweeping views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape.

Adventure tourism has been steadily growing in Himachal Pradesh, and Kangra has been emerging as one of the state’s most promising destinations for outdoor activities. Trekking routes, nature trails and scenic viewpoints already draw travellers to the region. With the addition of a long-distance zipline, the government hopes to create an experience that adds both thrill and a new way to see the mountains.

Local communities are also expected to benefit from the project. More visitors often mean more demand for homestays, cafés, guides, local transport and small businesses that support tourism. For many villages around the valley, this could bring new opportunities tied directly to travel and hospitality.

If the plan moves ahead smoothly, the zipline could soon become one of the most talked-about adventure experiences in the Indian Himalayas — giving visitors the chance to glide across the Dhauladhar valley while taking in the dramatic mountain scenery from above.
