Maharashtra has added five of its beaches to India’s prestigious Blue Flag list, an international recognition given to beaches that uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and environmental sustainability. The newly certified beaches are Shrivardhan and Nagaon in Raigad district, Parnaka in Palghar district, and Guhagar and Ladghar in Ratnagiri district.
“This recognition highlights Maharashtra’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage while providing world-class experiences for tourists,” said a spokesperson from the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). “These beaches not only offer pristine waters and safe surroundings but also encourage responsible tourism among visitors and local communities.”
With these five additions, Maharashtra now boasts a total of 17 Blue Flag-certified beaches, making it one of India’s leading states in sustainable coastal tourism. The certification is expected to attract both domestic and international travelers, providing eco-friendly destinations that meet global environmental standards.
The achievement also reflects India’s broader efforts to promote sustainable tourism along its coastline, balancing economic growth with environmental conservation. For visitors seeking clean, safe, and well-managed beaches, Maharashtra’s newly certified Blue Flag beaches are now among the top choices.
