Hyderabad is all set to add a unique attraction to its urban landscape with the launch of India’s first artificial beach. The project, coming up at Kotwal Guda on the city’s outskirts, will be developed over 35 acres at a cost of ₹225 crore. Work is expected to begin in December 2025 under a public–private partnership (PPP) model.

A Coastal Escape in the City

India’s first artificial beach

For a city far from the sea, the artificial beach promises to recreate the charm of the coastline. The plan features a man-made lake, wave pools, sandyshores, as well as floating villas, luxuryaccommodations, landscaped parks, and cycling tracks. Visitors can also look forward to a range of leisure facilities, including food courts, theatres, and decorative fountains.

Adventure and Leisure Together

The project is designed to offer more than just relaxation. Adventure activities such as bungee jumping, sailing, and skating are part of the proposal, while families will have access to playgrounds and recreation zones. The idea is to create a space that caters to both thrill-seekers and those looking for a quiet getaway.

A Boost for Tourism

Officials expect the artificial beach to give a big push to Telangana’s tourism sector, which is estimated to have a potential of over ₹15,000 crore. For residents of Hyderabad, it will also mean a beach experience without the long journey to Goa, Visakhapatnam, or Suryalanka, positioning the city as a new year-round destination.

Focus on Sustainability

Planners say the project will adopt eco-friendly methods, with attention to water conservation and waste management, to ensure the development is environmentally responsible.

Changing the City’s Identity

Once completed, the artificial beach is expected to add a new dimension to Hyderabad. Known for its heritage and technology hubs, the city is now preparing to present itself as a modern lifestyle and leisure destination, blending culture, innovation, and recreation.
