Ayodhya is ready to add another feather to its cultural crown. The holy city, already a global center of faith after the grand Ram Temple’s consecration, will soon unveil the world’s first Ramayana-themed wax museum. In this immersive space, the timeless epic comes alive through life-like sculptures, sound, and light.
The Ramayana Wax Museum, spread across 9,850 square feet on the Chaudah Kosi Parikrama route, is being built at a cost of nearly ₹6 crore. It will officially open during Deepotsav 2025, Ayodhya’s grand festival of lights.
Developed by the Sunil Wax Museum group from Kerala — known for its museums in Lonavala and Thiruvananthapuram — this two-storey attraction will showcase around 50 wax figures of iconic characters from the Ramayana, including Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Hanuman, and Ravana.
Each floor tells a part of the epic:
- The ground floor will depict Lord Ram’s childhood, Sita’s swayamvar, and the royal life in Ayodhya.
- The upper floor will bring to life dramatic moments such as the exile, Lanka Dahan, and the great war with Ravana.
Visitors will experience detailed sets, atmospheric lighting, and temperature-controlled interiors — maintained at a constant 22°C to preserve the wax sculptures. Safety and comfort have been prioritized, with four emergency exits, 24×7 CCTV surveillance, and fire safety systems in place.
To ensure a smooth experience, entry will be capped at 100 visitors at a time, with tickets priced at ₹100 per person. A portion of the revenue will go to the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation, helping support local civic development.
Officials believe the museum will give pilgrims and tourists a new way to connect with the spirit of the Ramayana — blending art, devotion, and modern presentation. “It’s not just a museum; it’s an emotional journey through one of India’s greatest epics,” said a senior tourism department official. Ayodhya is once again set to shine — this time through wax, wonder, and the undying legend of Lord Ram.
